Important Notes About Antarctica
- Best wildlife viewing: Mid-January through February is the best time to see penguin chicks and also is a great time to see whales and other marine mammals.
- Expedition cruising at its finest: Expedition cruising is a very special kind of experience we love! The itinerary is fluid and the expedition team works tirelessly to ensure we get the best time on excursions, whether it’s kayaking with whales or walking with penguins.
- Smaller ships matter: Smaller ships like the Eclipse II are better; only 100 people can be on the ground at a time, so a ship that holds 200 people or fewer is ideal to maximize your time.
- The ultimate itinerary: Our favorite Antarctica itinerary is the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and Antarctica. South Georgia is known as either the “Serengeti of the Poles” or “Galapagos of the South”; it’s home to hundreds of thousands of king penguins and one of the most incredible places we’ve ever been. That itinerary also has the benefit of only crossing the notorious Drake Passage once.
What’s This All About?
We’ve secured an exclusive opportunity to bring a small group aboard the Scenic Eclipse II on a 20-day Falklands, South Georgia & Antarctica expedition. See the detailed itinerary here.
This stunning ship debuted in 2023 and will carry only 200 passengers, with nearly a 1:1 staff-to-guest ratio.
The sailing is already 90% sold—2+ years in advance.
So, How Good Is This Discount?
Our rate starts at $19,584 per person. Meanwhile, the public, rate for the same room starts $34,188 per person.
The deal is so good we initially thought it was a mistake.
We’re booked — and we'd love to have you join us.

Itinerary
(Note: Subject to change based on conditions or at the captain's discretion.)
- January 15, 2028: Arrive in Buenos Aires. Transfer to the included hotel.
- January 16: Transfer to the airport. Charter flight to Ushuaia. Board the Eclipse II and embark!
- January 17: At sea.
- January 18-19: The Falkland Islands. One day is expected to be devoted to expedition activities offered by Scenic, while the other is expected to be spent at the capital, Port Stanley, where we strongly recommend booking an excursion to Volunteer Point to see the king penguin colony.
- January 20-21: At sea.
- January 22-24: Explore South Georgia, with locations and activities at the captain's and expedition team's discretion. Expect to see hundreds of thousands of king penguins, and potentially walk among them. A likely stop is Grytvyken, where you can mail postcards from the southernmost post office in the world and visit Ernest Shackleton's grave.
- January 25-26: At sea.
- January 27-31: Explore the Antarctic Peninsula, with locations and activities at the discretion of the captain and the expedition team. Expect zodiac rides, walks on the continent, a polar plunge, kayaking, and standup paddleboarding; you can also purchase helicopter and submarine rides. Sightings should include many whales and penguins of several varieties, including gentoo, chinstrap, and Adelie.
- February 1-2: At sea, crossing the notorious Drake Passage. Here's hoping we get the Drake Lake!
- February 3: Arrive at Ushuaia. Transfer to the airport and charter flight to Buenos Aires, where your expedition ends. Consider an extension to Iguazu Falls or Patagonia while you're in Argentina!
